Gustav Information for Medicaid Providers
The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has declared that Hurricane Gustav represents a public health emergency in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. CMS has posted a waiver and additional guidance related to the hurricane on its website .
Medicaid providers in Texas can enroll as Louisiana Medicaid providers.
· Providers that enrolled with Louisiana Medicaid during Katrina can be reactivated by calling the Louisiana Support line at 1-877-598-8753 and supplying their Hurricane Katrina Provider Number and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
In the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, this number might not be answered. Providers that fail to get through are encouraged to call back at a later time.
