4.3.2 Prior Authorization for Inpatient Admission After Business Hours

For prior authorization of an inpatient admission occurring after business hours when an emergency exists or when the required medical services cannot be delayed due to the timing of the admission, providers must use the "CSHCN Services Program Prior Authorization Request for Inpatient Hospital Admission-For Use by Facilities Only" form on page chap.

Both the facility and the physician or supplier must be enrolled in the CSHCN Services Program for either inpatient or outpatient claims to be considered for payment.

For inpatient rehabilitation admissions, providers must use the "CSHCN Services Program Prior Authorization Request for Inpatient Rehabilitation Admission" form on page B-62.

The request may be submitted by the hospital, provided that all required information indicating inpatient admission is on the request form.
