19.2 Benefits, Limitations, and Authorization RequirementsThe CSHCN Services Program may reimburse physicians and advanced practice nurses (APNs) who provide hearing tests to clients of any age whose hearing is found to be suspect on the routine screening, whether or not their hearing is found to be impaired. Authorization is not required for hearing services provided by audiologists, physicians, or APNs. As defined in this chapter, prior authorization is required for cochlear implants and auditory brain implants. Note: CSHCN Services Program clients who are 17 years of age or older, legal residents of the State of Texas, and are employable may be eligible for assistance from the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). The CSHCN Services Program may request that clients who meet these requirements apply to DARS, because the CSHCN Services Program is the payer of last resort. Refer to: Chapter 4, "Authorizations and Prior Authorizations" for more information about authorizations and prior authorizations. |
