19.2.5.1 Cochlear Implant DME
Cochlear implant devices are a benefit of the CSHCN Services Program.
Replacement equipment for a cochlear implant device is also a benefit of the CSHCN Services Program. Replacement equipment includes batteries, sound processors, cables, coils, headsets, and microphones. Prior authorization is required for replacement of external sound processors and rechargeable AA batteries for a cochlear implant device.
Equipment and nonrechargeable batteries should be billed using the following procedure codes:
