3.1.8 Specialty Team/Center Enrollment

Providers who are enrolling as members of a specialty team/center must provide additional information with their enrollment applications.

Providers and/or facilities enrolled in the CSHCN Services Program and performing cleft/craniofacial (C/C) procedures or stem cell transplants must also be enrolled as members of an enrolled specialty team/center.

Refer to: Section 18.1.4, "Specialty Team or Center," on page 18-4; and Section 24.1.3, "Specialty Team/Center," on page 24-4, for more information about services requiring specialty team/center enrollment. Enrolling as a CSHCN Services Program provider does not automatically enroll a provider as a member of a specialty team/center.

Note: Anesthesiologists and assistant surgeons are not required to be specialty team/center-enrolled. However, when a procedure or admission is denied by the CSHCN Services Program because the primary surgeon or hospital is not appropriately specialty team/center-enrolled, assistant surgeon claims, also are denied. An anesthesiologist may be paid, if the claim is resubmitted on appeal and all filing deadlines are met.
