14.19 Special Needs Car Seats and Travel Restraints

The CSHCN Services Program may reimburse providers for special needs car seats and travel restraints when they are medically necessary and appropriate. when services and equipment are provided through a network of trained providers who are certified in car seat installation and must be authorized. The CSHCN Services Program may reimburse providers for travel restraints for the transportation of children with special positioning requirements.

The CSHCN Services Program reimburses providers for special needs car seats and travel restraints using the same methodology as custom manual rehabilitative equipment. When filing claims for car seats and travel restraints, providers should follow the same procedures as for customized equipment.
