24.3.25 Podiatry
A podiatrist (DPM) enrolled as a CSHCN Services Program provider is authorized to perform procedures on the ankle or foot within the scope of his/her license as a DPM, and when such procedures are reimbursable to a physician (MD or DO) under the CSHCN Services Program.
Procedure codes 2-11055, 2-11056, 2-11057, 2-11719, and 2-G0127 are limited to one service every six months per client.
Supportive devices such as molds, inlays, shoes, or supports and all services connected with the fitting or application of these devices must meet the CSHCN Services Program requirements for foot orthotics.
Podiatrists may be reimbursed for medically necessary laboratory services and radiological procedures that include the foot, ankle, toes, or calcaneus.
Podiatrists may prescribe medications, supplies, braces, and prosthetic devices for conditions of the foot and ankle.
Authorization/prior authorization requirements applied to services provided by physicians also apply to services provided by a podiatrist. All CSHCN Services Program requirements concerning reimbursement of surgical procedures, such as the global fee concept, apply to podiatrists.
Podiatrists may be reimbursed the lower of the billed amount or the amount allowed by the Texas Medicaid Program.
