DBMD Provider Training Scheduled for October

This training fulfills training requirements as described in §42.403 (f) . Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this training will be held virtually by Zoom video conference from Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. David Wiley, Transition Consultant with TSBVI DeafBlind Outreach, will be the training instructor.

Topics include:

  • Causes associated with deafblindness.
  • The effect of sensory impairments.
  • Basics of orientation and mobility.
  • Methods and strategies for communication.
  • How to support a person who is deafblind with multiple disabilities in leading a more active life.

Basic Principles and Strategies for Working with People who are DeafBlind with Multiple Disabilities

Tuesday, October 20 – Friday, October 23

8:00 a.m. (Central Time) to noon each day

Participants must attend the entire training to receive a training certificate.

To register, email DBMD Policy and provide:

  • Name(s) of all participant(s).
  • Email addresses of all participant(s) so they can be sent individualized training information.
  • Provider name and contract number, if applicable.
  • Special accommodations needed, such as interpreters.

Registration is open until 5:00 p.m. (Central Time), Wednesday, October 7. You will receive confirmation and additional details about the training, including how to join by Zoom, after you have registered.
