LTC9: Payment for Hurricane Ike-related Costs
Information posted May 6, 2009: On January 12, 2009, providers were notified via Information Letters No. 2009-04 and 2009-03 that funds had been appropriated to Texas for Hurricane Ike-related costs. DADS began collecting information on hurricane-related costs September 7, 2008, from Long Term Care (LTC) providers that accepted non-Medicaid eligible evacuees. [Information Letter 2009-03, Cost Information Requested by January 22, 2009, for LTC Services Provided to non-Medicaid evacuees during Hurricane Ike, and Information Letter No. 2009-04, Cost Information Requested by January 22, 2009, for Transportation Services Provided to DADS clients during Hurricane Ike]. Note: These letters have expired and been withdrawn from the DADS Letters to Providers Webpage.
This is to inform providers that DADS has now been authorized to reimburse providers for hurricane-related costs (uncompensated care and non-reimbursed transportation costs.

Reimbursement will be made to those providers that submitted information regarding costs incurred due to Hurricane Ike via the DADS disaster payments website and/or completed the DADS transportation excel document.
 
It is expected that providers will be reimbursed within 3 business days from the date of this notification.  When any payments are authorized, they will be made according to the method set up at the State (paper warrant or direct deposit).  The date payments are issued to a provider's account will vary by financial institutions.
