Community Services Waiver Providers Update to Incorrect RUG Issue
Information posted October 23, 2009: Beginning October 22, 2009 Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) has started the process to correct the Resource Utilization Group (RUG) value on Medical Necessity and Level of Care (MN and LOC) assessments that received an incorrect RUG value (see postings on October 16, 2009 and October 22, 2009). Click the title of this article for more information.

TMHP has identified all assessments that received an incorrect RUG value.  All assessments that have not yet been processed in DADS Service Authorization System (SAS) have been corrected on the portal and now have the correct RUG value.  If the RUG on an assessment was corrected by TMHP, beginning with October 22, 2009, providers will see a message in the history of that assessment stating “The RUG value on this form has been corrected from RUG XXX to RUG XXX”.

Forms with an incorrect RUG that have already been processed in SAS (and reflect the incorrect RUG on the MESAV) have been identified but have not yet been corrected.  DADS and TMHP will be working together to coordinate updating of the new RUG into both SAS and the LTC Online Portal.  Once the update is complete these assessments will also include a notification in the history of the.  A new message will be posted when this process has been completed.  For questions please contact TMHP at 1-800-626-4117, Option 1.
