Permanent Medical Necessity for NFs
Information posted June 26, 2009: TMHP has identified an LTC Online Portal defect where the Medical Necessity record of Permanent (P) on the Medicaid Eligibility Service Authorization Verification (MESAV) for nursing facility (NF) residents is being changed to Approved MN Only (Y). It is not necessary to phone TMHP or DADS to resolve this issue. We apologize for this inconvenience; however, this incorrect indicator for Permanent MN should not affect payment or result in a denial of medical necessity. The type of Minimum Data Set (MDS) submitted also is not affected by the PMN indicator so this should not change any submissions for a provider’s MDS coordinator. When the defect has been resolved, an automated cleanup will occur to correct all of the Permanent indicators.
