PACT Transitioning to HHSC and DSHS-CSHCN
Information posted April 24, 2009: Effective September 1, 2009, the Program for Amplification for Children of Texas (PACT) will no longer be administered by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The hearing services benefits currently administered through PACT will be transitioned to the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) for Texas Medicaid benefits and DSHS-Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN) Services Program for CSHCN Services Program benefits. Click on the title to view the details.

Claims for hearing services for children must be submitted to TMHP. TMHP will process all Medicaid and CSHCN Services Program hearing services claims. PACT providers will need to be enrolled in Texas Medicaid and the CSHCN Services Program to continue providing services to Texas Medicaid and CSHCN Services Program clients on and after September 1, 2009.

Beginning May 2009, TMHP will begin reaching out to PACT providers who are not currently enrolled with Texas Medicaid or the CSHCN Services Program to provide information about how to enroll (for those providers who are not currently enrolled with Texas Medicaid or the CSHCN Services Program), how hearing services for children will be administered, and how to obtain reimbursement for hearing services for children.

This transition will not affect access to hearing services for children (clients 20 years of age or younger).  Providers will use a majority of the same manufacturers on contract with PACT and have a range of reimbursable procedure codes and of reimbursement rates similar to that for the adult population.
