Medicaid and CHIP Allocation: Deadline to Apply for CARES Act, July 20, 2020

Last updated on

Information posted July 15, 2020

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

The deadline to apply for Federal CARES Act Provider Relief Fund is Monday, July 20, 2020. Interested providers are encouraged to apply.

Health and Human Services expects to distribute $15 billion to eligible providers that participate in state Medicaid/Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP) programs or Medicaid managed care plans and have not yet received a payment from the Provider Relief Fund General Distribution allocation.

Per the published guidance, "To be considered for the Medicaid and CHIP Distribution, providers must submit their gross revenues from patient care for CY 2017, 2018, or 2019 by July 20, 2020. Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered for funding."
