Texas Health Steps Quick Reference Guide to be Updated for June 2021

Last updated on

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

The Texas Health Steps Quick Reference Guide will be updated. Under the column titled “Developmental and Autism Screening,” the screening tool Survey of Well-being of Young Children (SWYC) will be added, and under the column titled “Mental Health Screening,” the screening tool Rapid Assessment for Adolescent Preventive Services (RAAPS) will be added.

The webpage links under the following columns will be updated:

  • Texas Health Steps Website

  • Medical Transportation Program (MTP)

The updated document will be available on the Texas Health Steps web page.
