Providers With Emergency Temporary Licenses From the Texas Medical Board Are Eligible for Enrollment With TMHP

Last updated on

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, precertification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

Physicians and physician assistants who are enrolling through the Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) with an emergency temporary license from the Texas Medical Board (TMB) are eligible for enrollment with Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP).

Provider Requirements

Enrolling applicants must:

  • Provide a copy of the email authorization from the TMB because emergency temporary licenses can’t be verified online.
  • Enter a license expiration date of September 1, 2022.
  • Provide proof of licensure during their Medicare initial enrollment effective date, if applicable (out-of-state licenses are acceptable).
