Long Term Care Programs Overview

The Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) was created to administer long-term services and supports for people who are aging and who have cognitive and physical disabilities. DADS also licenses and regulates providers of these services, and administers the state’s guardianship program. DADS began formal operations on Sept. 1, 2004.

The TMHP Long Term Care (LTC) department supports the provider community as they submit forms and assessments through the LTC Online Portal  and claims for services rendered through the Claims Management System (CMS).

TMHP offers support through determination of medical necessity and level of care for clients who are Medicaid eligible and meet the medical necessity requirements of admission into a nursing home or a cost-effective alternative to institutionalization. The LTC Help Desk provides customer-oriented support to providers and State staff regarding submissions of LTC forms, assessments and claims.

For more information about Long Term Care or Nursing Facilities Policy, visit the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services LTC Policy website.
