Last updated on 4/28/2020

In response to the current COVID-19 public health emergency, the Office of the Governor granted a waiver to extend Texas Board of Nursing licensure renewal requirements in reference to Texas Occupations Code 301.301(c), (c-1), and (f), 22 Tex. Admin. Code 223.1(a)(5)22 Tex. Admin. Code 217.6(a), and 22 Tex. Admin. Code 216.8(d)(1).

The waived regulations allow the following providers to have a grace period until September 30, 2020 to renew their licenses:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs)
  • Registered Nurses (RNs)
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)

Providers (LVNs, RNs, and APRNs) with a Texas Board of Nursing license expiration date that falls within the grace period of March 23, 2020 through September 30, 2020 must utilize the extended renewal end date of September 30, 2020 as their license expiration date in order to submit enrollment applications and complete the enrollment process.

Important: TMHP must be able to confirm active license status through online verification at the time of enrollment.
