Updated COVID-19 Texas Health Steps Telemedicine FAQs

Last updated on

Information posted June 19, 2020

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has published an updated frequently asked questions (FAQs) document regarding the guidance permitting remote delivery of certain components of Texas Health Steps medical checkups.

Providers can find the updated FAQ document here. Click the blue Texas Health Steps Checkup drop-down menu, and then click the “Texas Health Steps Telemedicine Guidance for Providers (PDF)” link.
