Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Last updated on

TMHP is working closely with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to monitor COVID-19 and to support the public health-care programs that are being impacted. While TMHP operations are continuing throughout this public health threat, in response to COVID-19, TMHP staff will not be available for face-to-face interactions at this time. Providers are encouraged to use electronic methods for submitting claims, prior authorizations, enrollment applications, and other transactions. Inquiries should be directed to the TMHP Contact Center at 800-925-9126 or the TMHP-CSHCN Services Program Contact Center at 800-568-2413.

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

The information on this page is to keep you apprised of the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation. Check back often, as this page will be updated as more information becomes available. For more information about the Coronavirus, visit HHSC's COVID-19 web page.

Testing and Treatment for the Uninsured

On April 22, 2020, the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) launched a new COVID-19 program to support reimbursement to providers and facilities for testing and treatment of the uninsured. The program includes COVID-19 testing and treatment provided on or after February 4, 2020, and began accepting claims May 6, 2020. Providers can learn more about the program at: www.hrsa.gov/coviduninsuredclaim.
