Members Sought for the Long-Term Care Facilities Council

Last updated on

If you are interested in issues regarding a consistent survey and informal dispute resolution process for long-term care facilities, Medicaid quality-based payment systems for those facilities and the allocation of Medicaid beds in those facilities, you may want to apply to be a member of the Long-Term Care Facilities Council. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission executive commissioner will appoint members to the council to serve terms to be determined at the first meeting. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., March 14.

HHSC will consider applicants' qualifications, background and interest in serving on the committee and will try to choose committee members who represent the diversity of all Texans. For this reason, HHSC considers applicants' ethnicity, gender, and geographic location.

It is preferred that you submit your application electronically, but you may submit the application by email, mail, or fax. Here are the addresses:

Email: HHS_Appointments@hhsc.state.tx.us Attn: LTCFC

Mail: Texas Health and Human Services Commission 4900 N. Lamar Blvd. Mail Code 0223 Austin, TX 78751 Attn: Susanna Sparkman

Fax: 512-206-3984 Attn: LTCFC

A Long-Term Care Facilities Council member must regularly participate in council meetings and in other meetings as needed. Council meetings are held about once every three months in Austin or at the call of the presiding officer. Due to travel restrictions from COVID-19, committee meetings are currently being held virtually, but we expect to resume in-person meetings once travel restrictions are lifted and it is deemed safe to do so. A member of the Council is not entitled to reimbursement of expenses or to compensation for service on the council.
