Fourth Update to ‘HHSC to Reopen Respiratory Syncytial Virus Season for Select Texas Regions’

This is an update to the article titled “Third Update to ‘HHSC to Reopen Respiratory Syncytial Virus Season for Select Texas Regions.’” The update is that Regions 1, High Plains, and Region, and 2, Northwest Texas, are now included:

Providers can start monthly palivizumab (Synagis) prophylaxis treatment for all eligible clients beginning July 23, 2021, in the following regions:

  1. High Plains and Region
  2. Northwest Texas

Prior authorization will follow the usual process.

Note: Information will be updated as regions are identified and added. Providers should check tmhp.com regularly for the latest articles to see if their regions are affected.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will continue to monitor the resurgence and announce any other seasonal changes.
