LTC Medicaid Enrollment Applicants and HHSC Existing Contractors Must Go to TMHP Website to Use PEMS to Enroll or Revalidate

Last updated on

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

Beginning December 13, 2021, Long-term Care (LTC) Texas Medicaid enrollment applicants and existing Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) contractors must go to the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) website to use the new Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) if they want to enroll or revalidate as a Texas Medicaid provider for LTC contracts or to continue contracting with HHSC.

If providers would like to provide Medicaid and related services for a managed care organization (MCO) or dental maintenance organization (DMO), they must first enroll with Texas Medicaid before contracting with the MCO or DMO.

For additional information related to PEMS, refer to the article titled “TMHP Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) Training Materials Available,” which was posted on the TMHP website on November 17, 2021.
