Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Season Ends February 1, 2022

Last updated on

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will close the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) season in all regions on February 1, 2022.

The 2021-22 traditional RSV season began on October 1, 2021, and is considered separate from the interseasonal RSV activities observed during the summer of 2021.

HHSC based this decision on the Texas RSV Task Force and HHSC Office of the Medical Director's recommendation because of the continued decrease in RSV test positivity below the 5% threshold for two consecutive weeks.
