Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, precertification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.
The updated Prior Authorization (PA) on the Portal computer-based training is now available on the TMHP Learning Management System (LMS), located here.
The training contains a high-level overview of the PA submission process along with simulations that demonstrate how to complete specific tasks in the PA on the Portal tool. The simulations include how to:
- Submit a prior authorization request.
- Check the status of a prior authorization.
- Save a prior authorization draft and template.
You will need a username and password to access training courses on the LMS. To get an LMS username and password, providers must create an account by clicking the Don’t have an account? Sign up here link next to the login button on the LMS home page.
