Update to the 2023 HCPCS Special Bulletin

Last updated on

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to Medicaid members who are enrolled in their MCO. Administrative procedures, such as prior authorization, precertification, referrals, and claims and encounter data filing, may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the member’s specific MCO for details.

An update is available to the 2023 Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Special Bulletin, which was published on tmhp.com on December 30, 2022. Informational reporting procedure code 0499T was identified in the bulletin as a discontinued code. However, the procedure code is not discontinued and may still be used for informational reporting for dates of service on or after January 1, 2023.
