Deadline for Comments on Draft Changes for Consolidation of VDP Website Formulary Search Functions Is January 16, 2026

Last updated on

January 16, 2026, is the deadline to submit comments about the proposed consolidation of the formulary search functions on the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Vendor Drug Program (VDP) website.

Formulary-Related Search Functions

The VDP website offers three separate formulary-related search functions:

  • The Formulary Drug search function contains all legend and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs.
  • The Formulary Product search function includes home health supplies, vitamins and minerals, vaccines, and mosquito repellents.
  • The Provisional Formulary search function contains drugs and products that are available under Texas Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) with provisional formulary coverage.

Both the drug and product search functions allow users to search by program (Medicaid, CHIP, the Children with Special Health Care Needs [CSHCN] Services Program, Healthy Texas Women [HTW], and Kidney Health Care [KHC]) and by other National Drug Code (NDC) groupings.

VDP has proposed combining the data from the three search functions into one data file that consolidates all NDC information into one search function as a process improvement. The result would be one formulary search function that includes all the drugs and products that are currently listed in the three existing search functions.

Users can submit comments about the proposed change using the Draft Policy Comment Submission form (HHS 1342). VDP will consider the comments in the development of the change and later publish information about the final changes and implementation date.
