Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics is implementing a new diagnosis code into the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification for reporting Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Effective April 1, 2020 for dates of service on or after February 20, 2020, diagnosis code U071 will be a benefit of Texas Medicaid and the Children with Special Health Care Needs Services Program for reporting COVID-19.
