Members Sought for the Long-Term Care Facilities Council

Last updated on

If you are interested in issues regarding a consistent survey and informal dispute resolution process for long-term care facilities, Medicaid quality-based payment systems for those facilities, and the allocation of Medicaid beds in those facilities, you may want to apply to be a member of the Long-Term Care Facilities Council. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) executive commissioner will appoint members to the council to serve terms to be determined at the first meeting.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., March 14, 2021.

HHSC will consider applicants' qualifications, background, and interest in serving on the council and will try to choose members who represent the diversity of all Texans. For this reason, HHSC considers applicants' ethnicity, gender, and geographic location.

  • Review the linked application letter for details, including the necessary qualifications for members.
  • After reviewing the application letter, if you verify that you meet the qualifications for at least one category, click on the application linked here to apply to be on the council.

Electronically submitted applications are preferred, but you may submit the application by email, mail or fax. The addresses are as follows:

A Long-Term Care Facilities Council member must participate in council meetings regularly and in other meetings as needed. Council meetings are held quarterly in Austin or at the call of the presiding officer. Due to travel restrictions from COVID-19, committee meetings are currently being held virtually, but we expect to resume in-person meetings once travel restrictions are lifted and it is deemed safe to do so.

Members are not entitled to reimbursement of expenses or compensation for service on the council.
