Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

This is an update to an article titled “CHIP Copayments Waived Through June 30, 2021,” which was published on this website on May 27, 2021.

As part of the continued response to COVID-19 (coronavirus), the Texas Health and Human Services Commission will waive Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) co-payments through July 31, 2021, unless the federal public health emergency (PHE) ends sooner. HHSC will provide more information if there are changes. The waiver applies to medical office co-payments only.
