CHIP Copayments Waived Through August 31, 2021

Note: Texas Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) must provide all medically necessary, Medicaid-covered services to eligible clients. Administrative procedures such as prior authorization, pre-certification, referrals, and claims/encounter data filing may differ from traditional Medicaid (fee-for-service) and from MCO to MCO. Providers should contact the client's specific MCO for details.

This is an update to the article titled, “CHIP Copayments Waived Through July 31, 2021,” which was posted on this website on June 28, 2021.

As part of the continued response to COVID-19 (coronavirus), the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will waive Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) co-payments through August 31, 2021. HHSC will provide more information if there are changes. The waiver applies to medical office visit co-payments only.
