Reminder: Nurse Aide Active Status and Medication Aide Permit Renewal Waiver Only Delays Document Submission

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) reminds Nurse Aides and Medication Aides that the waiver suspending requirements related to renewal application submission and processing timeframes is still in place. This suspension includes flexibility on extending licenses while a late application is being processed. This means that any nurse aide listed on active status in the nurse aide registry or med aide permit existing at the time of the COVID-19 disaster declaration is in effect until HHSC requires renewal.

When HHSC requires renewal, a nurse aide or medication aide will need to need to submit employment verification, CEUs, in-service, fingerprint criminal background check (medication aides), and pay fees since last renewal.

Nurse Aides and Medication Aides are encouraged to renew now and not wait until HHSC ends the waiver. Renew now at the following webpages:
