Background

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government declared a public health emergency (PHE) and passed a law that allowed Medicaid recipients to automatically keep their Medicaid coverage (continuous Medicaid eligibility). Based on new federal law, continuous Medicaid eligibility will end on March 31, 2023.

Eligible Medicaid recipients will have to renew their benefits to make sure coverage will continue. Failure to respond to renewal or information requests from HHSC could mean loss of coverage.
