New VDP Provider Portal Instructions for Prescribers Coming Soon

Beginning March 15, 2024, prescribers will receive mailed letters that detail how to register for access to the new Texas Vendor Drug Program (VDP) Provider Portal. This new provider portal goes into effect on March 30, 2024, and will be used for VDP’s administrative pharmacy needs. The new portal is provided by Gainwell Technologies (Gainwell), which was selected by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) as the pharmacy benefit administrator.

Providers should check their mail frequently and register for the portal beginning March 30, 2024. If a provider has not received a letter by March 29, 2024, the provider should call Gainwell at one of the numbers below, depending on the date of the call:

  • Between March 18–29, 2024, providers should call the Gainwell Registration Help Desk at 833-839-2710.
  • After March 29, 2024, providers should call the Gainwell Pharmacy and Technical Help Desk at 800-435-4165. On April 1, 2024, this Help Desk begins its regular operating hours, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, it will also be operating during these special hours during the last weekend in March:
    • Saturday, March 30, 2024, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Sunday, March 31, 2024, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
