Dual Demonstration MMP Program Ending on January 1, 2026

Effective January 1, 2026, the Dual Demonstration Medicare-Medicaid Plans (MMPs) Program will be discontinued.

The following health plans will end MMP operations on December 31, 2025, in only designated dual demonstration counties.

The following plans and service areas will be affected:

Dual eligible members who are enrolled in these MMPs can select another MMP in their demonstration county if a plan is available.

The following options will be available beginning January 1, 2026:

  • Enrollment in an Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (Integrated D-SNP), which will automatically enroll the member in the Integrated D-SNP parent company’s affiliated STAR+PLUS managed care organization (MCO) so that the health plan company can provide streamlined, coordinated care for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits
  • Enrollment in another type of Medicare plan for Medicare coverage and separate enrollment in a STAR+PLUS MCO in the members’ service area for Medicaid coverage (A member may but is not required to select the same health plan company for Medicare and Medicaid coverage.)
