Members Sought for the Medicaid Advisory Committee

Last updated on

If you’re interested in providing access to high quality, comprehensive medical and health care services to Medicaid recipients in the state, you can apply to be a member of the Medicaid Advisory Committee formerly
known as the Medical Care Advisory Committee. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission executive commissioner will appoint members to the committee to serve a term ending December 31, 2031 (unless otherwise indicated).

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., January 27, 2026.

In selecting members to serve on the committee, HHSC considers the applicants' qualifications, background, and interest in serving on the committee. HHSC will choose committee members who represent the geographic diversity of all Texans.

A committee member must regularly take part in committee meetings. They may also have to take part in subcommittee meetings or other related activities. HHSC has established a Beneficiary Advisory Council (BAC) as required by CFR §431.12 and operates as a standing subcommittee of the MAC. This subcommittee will be represented by a percentage of MAC members. The BAC must meet separately from the MAC, on a regular basis, and in advance of each MAC meeting to ensure BAC member preparation for each MAC meeting. Committee meetings are held about once every three months in Austin or at the call of the presiding officer

To the extent permitted by the current state budget, a committee member who receives services from HHSC or is a family member of a beneficiary may be repaid for their travel expenses to and from meetings if money is available and in accordance with the HHSC Travel Policy. Other committee members are not paid to attend or travel to and from committee meetings.

HHSC will notify applicants if they have been selected, and the Committee webpage will be updated with the names of the new members.

HHSC prefers that you submit your application electronically, but you may submit the application by email, mail, or fax to the following addresses:
