Baylor Scott & White and FirstCare Health Plans Will End Participation in Texas Medicaid Managed Care

Effective September 1, 2026, Baylor Scott & White and FirstCare health plans will no longer participate in Texas Medicaid managed care programs.

Important: After August 31, 2026, members will not be able to receive Medicaid, STAR, and Children’s Health Insurance (CHIP) services from the affected plans.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) implemented turnover plans to ensure that members transition smoothly into their newly selected health plans.

Due to Baylor Scott & White and FirstCare plans ending, the following plan codes will be end-dated on August 31, 2026:

Claims Submission

August 31, 2026, will be the last date of service (DOS) that the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) will accept any claims submitted under Baylor Scott & White and FirstCare health plans. Any claims with a DOS on or after September 1, 2026, will be rejected.

Providers will have 24 months to submit their claims with a DOS on or before August 31, 2026. The federal deadline to submit these claims is August 31, 2028.

Prior authorization processes will not be affected.
