Upcoming: PEMS Application Enhancements for Providers

Last updated on

Starting July 31, 2026, the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP) will upgrade the Provider Enrollment and Management System (PEMS) by introducing SmartTips and WalkMe walkthroughs. These improvements will provide enhanced support for applications, streamlining the enrollment experience by shortening processing times for providers.

TMHP will implement the SmartTips and WalkMe walkthroughs in phases, beginning with applications that require providers to address deficiencies. The full rollout is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

SmartTips

SmartTips provide additional information or definitions about fields and buttons in PEMS. SmartTips appear as question mark icons within a blue circle that reveal the information when a user hovers over the icon.

WalkMe Walkthroughs

WalkMe walkthroughs will be available after an application is submitted and deficiencies are identified. Providers can turn on the WalkMe walkthrough in PEMS by clicking the Deficiencies Help button at the top right of the window to display instructions for correcting the deficiencies.

Reminder: After providers correct all identified deficiencies, they must navigate to the Agreements page in PEMS to submit their updated application.
