Members Sought for the Sickle Cell Task Force

If you’re interested in issues related to sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait, you may want to apply to be a member of the Sickle Cell Task Force. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission executive commissioner will appoint members to the task force to serve a term expiring August 31, 2027, and 2028.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m., August 31, 2026

HHSC will review applicants’ qualifications, experience, and interest in serving on the Task Force and seeks members who reflect the geographic diversity of Texas.

Task Force members must attend meetings regularly. Meetings are held about once every three months in Austin or at the call of the presiding officer.

Per 2026-27 General Appropriations Act, S.B.1, 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025; a Task Force member may be reimbursed for their travel expenses to and from meetings in accordance with the HHSC Travel Policy.
