Update to ‘HHSC to Reopen Respiratory Syncytial Virus Season for Select Texas Regions’

This is an update to the article titled “HHSC to Reopen Respiratory Syncytial Virus Season for Select Texas Regions.” The update is that Region 7 – Central Texas is also included.

Providers can start monthly palivizumab (Synagis) prophylaxis treatment for all eligible clients beginning June 21, 2021, in the following regions:

  • Region 3 — Dallas/Fort Worth
  • Region 6 — Gulf Coast
  • Region 7 — Central Texas
  • Region 11 — Lower South Texas

Prior authorization will follow the usual process.

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will continue to monitor the resurgence and announce any other seasonal changes.
