Second Update to ‘HHSC to Reopen Respiratory Syncytial Virus Season for Select Texas Regions’

This is an update to the article titled “Update to ‘HHSC to Reopen Respiratory Syncytial Virus Season for Select Texas Regions.’” The update is that four additional regions are now included: Region 4: Upper East Texas, Region 5: Southeast Texas, Region 9: West Texas, and Region 10: Upper Rio Grande.

Providers can start monthly palivizumab (Synagis) prophylaxis treatment for all eligible clients beginning as early as June 21, 2021, in the following regions:

  • Region 3: Dallas/Fort Worth
  • Region 5: Southeast Texas
  • Region 6: Gulf Coast
  • Region 7: Central Texas
  • Region 9: West Texas
  • Region 10: Upper Rio Grande
  • Region 11: Lower South Texas

Region 4: Upper East Texas can begin by June 28, 2021.

Prior authorization will follow the usual process.
